July Meeting Recap

We had a wonderful, relaxed meeting in our July meeting.  Things we went over were:

Raffle proceeds to date:  Proceeds from sales at Karen McTavish quilt shop, Hannah Johnson's Quilt Shop and other sales venues were shared. All tickets and proceeds must be in by the August meeting.  In the August meeting we will do the drawing and give a final update on proceeds.  ALL TICKETS AND FUNDS MUST BE RETURNED BY THE AUGUST MEETING.  This is a LEGAL requirement. If you can't return the tickets and/or funds in the August meeting, please contact Claudia L.

Quiltcon 2019 Charity Quilt:  Information was shared regarding the quilt block kits members can take home to complete.  Information was also shared regarding sew days.  The Sew Days will be posted on the calendar on the LSMQG website.  The calendar can be found here   Our next sew day is July 25th at Harrison Community Center. Start time is scheduled for 5:00 PM.  Our goal is to have the quilt completed by November 30th so we can enter it into the judged portion of Quiltcon.

Improv Tutorial:  Alane demonstrated a stitch and flip technique for adding wonky triangles to a corner of a 2 1/2 inch square of fabric.  She also shared a slice and insert technique for making wonky cross blocks. These techniques will be the techniques that will be used when we make blocks for our 2019 Quiltcon Charity Quilt.

Fabric Printing Workshop and Survey:  Alane has sent out a second survey regarding dates being considered for the workshop.  If you have not replied to the survey please check your email for the link and fill out the survey.

Painted Turtle QAL:  Alane revealed the next blocks in our quilt a long.  She has also posted the instructions in our member's only Facebook page.

Lynn Carson Harris Workshop:  Registration is now open for member's to register to take both classes.  On August 1st registration fee increases to $50.00 and is open to the public.  You can access the registration form here

August Meeting/Challenge: Members shared their inspiration photo for the August Mini Quilt challenge.  All members who participate will receive a prize.  Quilts must be finished to be eligible for a prize.  This challenge is designed to stir your creative genius and stretch your creative muscles, so we aren't designating too many other 'boundaries'.

August Potluck Picnic:  We will also have a potluck picnic during the August meeting.  Rosemary and Mary will bring meatless entrees.  You can sign up for the picnic goodies you will bring here    Once you click on the RSVP button you will be brought to the potluck sign up page.
